Has anyone led lines back to the cockpit on an H25? I've been looking to buy an H25 and it seems as if the sliding companionway roof takes up all the room on top of the cabin. Where did you put the rope clutches? Any suggestions? I'll be doing a lot of single handed sailing, and I'd like to be able to raise, lower and adjust sail trim from withint he cockpit. Thanks for your help, Jacob

H27 Photo Essay

I suppose our project on the h27 is close to your need. Try the link below. David Lady Lillie

David, have you changed the packing in the shaft

stuffing box in the '77 hunter 27? I have the yanmar and it seems that I will have to unbolt the engine, slide it a bit into the cabin, undo the coupler and then undo the packing bolt. It seems that there isn't enough room to slide the stuff box holding the flax backward to get the old flax out! Any experience here appreciated!

No, there was room enough

I can't remember the configuration exactly, but I was able to back off the packing nut, pull out the old packing with the corkscrew tool I got at WM, and then put the new teflon stuff in with just minor contortion, and laying on the bumpy engine. I have heard others ask the same question, so I wonder if there is more than one configuration. Ours is a '77 model, and there was certainly no need to move the engine. David Lady Lillie

It's Doable

I have and it was not too difficult. There is enough room just outboard of the grab rails for a line or two. I have just my main halyard leading aft but am thinking about adding a downhaul on my main as I use a full batten main which does not drop to smoothly. I have a single clutch (enough room for a double) and a winch added in that area. Works great and not to shabby in looks either.

Exactly Like Dave

Hey Dave, Looks exactly like what I did, except the space outboard of the grab rail is not nearly as wide on the h25 as the h27 but enough to do the job.
