Does anyone have an opinion on the lazyjacks systems? I currently use a Dutchman but am looking into another system to help me bring down the sails with less hassle...thanks in advance

I just bought a new mainsail and had it modified for the Dutchman System.

EZJacks.... Love 'em!

http://ezjax.com/ IMHO better than Dutchman, or standard LazyJacks, etc. The benefit is that they can be stored totally out of the way.

Fold Away Lazy Jacks

I just converted my old lazy jacks system that that got disconnected and hooked to mast out of the way and than get rehooked up when lowering the main but too much work. I saw the new better system on this forum here and so far I like them better they get pulled down out of the way and lay along under the boom, there are two lines hooked to the lazy jacks one for pulling them up and one for pulling down out of the way under the boom and than just put some strap around the sail and lower the lazy jacks and put sail cover on. I will look for the photo's and post here or some one else will help out with them. nick

your choice

i have a dutchman now , at least till friday when my new main gets put on i decided to go with lazy jacks for the following reasons 1. cost-250.00 just to refit a new sail more than lazy jacks cost 2. having 2 holes in my sail cover that let in water and dirt. 3.holes in my sail YES i know it dosent really make a difference but their still their. dont get me wrong the dutchman works great but...i'd rather have the lazy jacks

I have the Dutchman...works fine. Also, you do not need to put two holes in the sail cover. Put some slack in the Dutchman lines and run them under the edge of the sail cover rather up through a hole. My current sail cover has the holes, but when I need a new one, I'll omit the holes and the two zippers that go with them.

Suggest Searching the Archives

Jenny, People either love Dutchmen systems or hate them. I am one of the latter and wonder if some have ever experienced a stack pack. Suggest you look in the archives because most, including myself, have debated this several times. Regards.

EZ-Jacks

Installed my EZ-jacks a couple of months ago and am very pleased with them. Considered Dutchman reefing but it was more expensive and heard that they had to be adjusted right to work properly. Don't worry about adjusting anything on my EZ-jacks, just pull them in place when I need them.

i wonder how many people unsatisfied with the duchtman system have been shown how to work it. who would expect a novice to just fly a spinnaker with no instruction?

Dutchman

Mortyd has a good point. When I first got my Dutchman I did not like it at all...until I called the dealer and he told me how to use it. Now I would not be without it.

Is it adjusted properly? Are you sure that you understand the procedure? Love my Dutchman.
