Dear 25Mkii owners

I been planning to install lazyjacks in my boat but would like to avoid making holes in the boom and mast as much as possible.

Would like to ask you guys who own or owned a 25mkii with lazyjacks to give me ideas and if possible (because with it it's much easier) to post pictures for my reference.

Also, because the lazyjacks should pair with a nice sail cover, give me ideas for solutions please.

Thank you
I will post the result after deciding what to do :)

I installed the "SAIL CRADLE" on my boat. Simple installation and works well. Nice part of this is you do not need to do anything with your sail cover.

Check it out on this web site.

Hope this helps you

I want to install the lazyjack (cradle?) system on my Y25 too, but there're many other repair/refit projects of higher priority.

I did installed a lazyjack system on my previous boat though. It looks pretty much like the pictures on the URL that smoothsailing posted.

Mine was designed such that when the main is hoisted, you can hook the lazyjack ropes to the gooseneck so that it becomes a "L' shape with the boom and not interferes with the sail. Likewise, you can hook the ropes after the main is dropped and secured, such that no change on sail cover is needed. Well, for my case, I modified the sail cover anyway (coz' the old cover broke and needed to be replaced), so that the lazyjack remains when the main is covered.

you cannot avoid drilling in the mast so as to install two pulley at mid height of the mast and two cleats in the lower side.

I got it fixed by the supplier , the workmanship is so so but the quality of the cover is poor . It is by U?. The rope was borken in 2 years , the plastic

buckle was broken and the stitching line along the zipper was broken in 2-3 years time .

This is my experience with U?.

There are already an small eye stripe at mid-height on each side of my mast.

My modified cover was made by another shop in Kowloon Bay, the workmanship was not excellent, but cheaper. Stitches also started to break after 2+ years.

lazy jack articles

The January 2012 issue of SAIL magazine has an article on lazy jack systems.
Also many sailing hardware catalogs include a rigging section to help you design systems for your boat,Harken comes to mind. Unfortunatley just about any system will require mounting of some sort if fitting. Just remember to keep it simple.
There is nothing special regarding a Y25 system-- it's all personal preference when it comes to rigging systems..... thats how you personalize your boat!
