I'm in the process of setting up my Lazy Jacks on my Hunter 340 1999. Do not know if I like the lines going thru the sail cover or not. I may just decide to buy a new cover. Do anyone have any preferences as to what they prefer. Thank you, Richard

I don't see a problem.

Once the sails are flaked and secured the jack lines can be loosened so they don't interfere with the cover. Frank

Lazy Jacks and Sail Covers

Richard, The line on my lazy jacks is long enough to allow bringing them forward to the mast and secureing them there. That allows the use of a conventional sail cover on the main and keeps them out of the way when raising the main. After the main is up it's a simple matter to trim in the lazy jack line and secure it to the horn cleat on the boom.

May I suggest that you research the "archives"

There have been a number of fairly recent postings on this topic. You will pick up some good pointers.

Through cover if its a stay on

We previously owned a 29.5 with lazy jacks and a standard cover. We now own a 340 with the psudo-stack pack cover-the one that stays on the boom. The lazy jacks run through the cover (grommets). Both of these boats had large bimini to keep cabin and cockpit covered. This makes it difficult, nigh impossible to stand right along the boom when cover the sail. I strongly recommend remanufacturing the sail cover so it stays on all the time and zips along the top and henceforth running the LJs through the cover.
