LAZARETTE SHELF QUESTION

Making progress with the cleaning up task. In the lazarette, I removed the shelf, the water heater and the mess, crud and trash. I need to replace the shelf, and will use PVC board to make a new one, using the old as a pattern. I understand the bungee cord set up for holding the emergency tiller, but does anyone know what the wooden block thingie is for?

I would use King Starboard for the new one, not PVC.
I would guess the wooden block is for the Gusher pump handle.

Yes, Starboard is very nice and works very well. Its negatives is that its super heavy and quite expensive. For a critical support area it is certainly the product to use, but for a shelf, PVC board will suffice.
