After owning for a month, got it on the water Sunday. I've never sailed a cutter rig, nor had an inboard engine, diesel on top of that, nor used a furler or had wheel steering. Lots of new things.

To be honest, I'm thinking that the only Allmand HMS 23 is the brochure. So far all I've seen have been 1976, with a HIN that list the maker as International Yacht Corp. makers of the Helsen who is the designer. I think the lower hull is the same as the Watkins 23XL that Helsen also helped design. Since none are after 1976, and the Allmand brochure is dated 1977, I don't think Allmand ever made a finished product, they all came out of Helsen's yard. And my sails have the Helsen logo with 23 in the H.
