I replaced my whole trailer electrical system today. It's nice to know that my lights will work now without going through the connector bending ritual. I'm getting my new brake parts on monday and will post photos of that chaos. Wish me luck.

Please post photos

I want to put brakes on my single axle C22 trailer. Please describe the parts you got and include lots of photos. Are you going with disk or drum? Mechanical or electric? This is great!

drum

I'll be getting new backplates and a new coupler. I already received the new flexible brake lines. I'm hoping to have it all done next week since my b-day is the 31st and I'll go insane if my boat is still dry then.

it's like Christmas

when you get parts in the mail. I got all my brake parts this morning, and I'll start the replacement process today. I'm replacing the coupler first then the backing plates. I should have the first set of pictures on here this evening.

champion trailers

Great selection, nice people on the phone, everything is as advertised. I highly recommend them. I didn't buy a kit because I have "special" hubs and wheels. So far I've got one backing plate on, but I'm going to go buy new bearings since the inside of the hub had a nice grease splatter. The hubs have been something else, also. The amount of rust in the one I pulled today had me very worried, but I managed to get it cleaned up and servicable. Pics to follow later.

quick disconnect

from Champion Trailers. I installed this to make it easy to extend my tongue for launching/retrieving.

flexible brake lines

I used flexible brake lines, very easy to install. The pic shows the three way blocks that came with the kit.

operational test done

The brake job is completely done, tested, and working very well. In the process of all this I noticed one of my bunk support posts seems to be misaligned. I guess that will be the next project. Now I can get back to being paranoid that the whole trailer will fall apart on me.

RE: Rick

Although galvanized would be better, I am in fresh water only. I will also only be launching and retrieving once each year. It would be pretty psychotic to try and tow 27' of boat back and forth. But you are right, galvanized is much better. Bryon
