Why is there a slush zone around the boat?
Does the Sun heat the hull enough in the day to melt the ice around it? Or is there some other phenomenon at play? It was a cold winter but there were a few thaws. I think it will survive.
I understand from friends in the Daks that if you are snowmobiling on an Adirondack lake and the sled breaks through the ice and sinks it is a $15,000 fine before the recovery process expenses. I wonder what a sailboat fine would be?

I wonder if the mast swaying in the wind caused enough movement to prevent ice from forming close to the hull
