Boats all packed up and out of the water-how sad. Had a hell of a time getting it up far enough on the trailer too (resorted to using a come-along on the dry wrapped around the keel for the last 6"). Big problem here being the hitch too high on the truck making the trailer angled, NOT the depth of the trailer overall. And I swear- my boom is straight!

1st time to load my new to me h23 last week.
I had read past post and put dish soap on the rails. When I had it out of the water it was about 10" from the front of the trailer. I drove forward about 10' and tapped the breaks. The boat slid forward like it was on greased rollers. Never though it would slide that easy.

Do Not recommend
Winching or soaping a boat onto it’s trailer. A trailer with bunks, the boat should be floated on, winching without roller bunks is too hard on the bow eye. I would not want to be towing a boat with slick bunks when it’s raining. A boat should be floated onto the bunks, the trailer must be in deep enough to do this, you’ll have to add a tongue extension if you can not.

Liquid Rollers. It comes in a spray can. You spray it on dry bunks and it makes pulling the boat those last few inches very easy. The procedure of pulling ahead at less than 10mph. and tapping the brakes is famous among MacGregor sailers as the "Mac Bump". Even when the boat has its nose firmly on the forward stop of the trailer, the back of the boat still has some flotation. As it is pulled from the water and the stern settles the nose will back off the stop a few inches. The Mac bump gets it forward again. Liquid rollers insures you will still have some bottom paint on the boat after the maneuver.

The winch
When I say I winch it forward, I use a heavy-duty come-along and a heavy webbed strap wrapped around my *keel*, NOT the bow-eye. Tension it up, give the bow a little shake and she jumps forward. I agree with the slick bunks not being the best idea, but then again a "premium" trailer has rollers, not bunks anyway!
