The new 27 was at Annapolis
I got to look at the new Hunter 27 at the Annapolis Boat Show. It is beautiful and the accomidations are great. Unfortunately, Hunter is moving away from water ballest all together. It has an enclosed head, shower, hot water, can be set up for AC, and a lot of other really nice cruising features. If I was going to get a new 27 and I was going to keep it in the water this would be the boat. I lover Hunter's new look and the low maintenance it requires! What I was told is that the new Hunter 25 will be released soon. It will not be water ballast but it will have a retractable keel. It will have a skeg on the bottom with lead weight in it. It should be pretty heavy but I don't think that it will outweigh my Hunter 22 by too much (Modern construction is much lighter). Since I had vehicle problems from pulling my 4000 lb Hunter 22, I moved up to a Ford F350 Diesel so there isn't much out there that I can't pull.I was told to watch the web sight for the information on the Hunter 25, but they haven't taken the 260 or the 240 off yet and they haven't added the 27. I wish that they were up to speed and they would unveil the plans for the 25.This whole thing is fustrating. My wife and I were planning to move up to Hunter 260 in 5 years (my current Hunter 22 is our first cruising boat). I like the option of trailering right now because it cuts down on maintenance, you don't have to pay slip fees, and a host of other advantages. Slip fees are getting to be very expensive these days and you save $1000s a year by dry slipping a boat. Plus it is nice for bad weather (I have pulled my boat out during a vacation because of one of the remains of a hurricane coming my way).
