Larger Sleeping Area?

We own a 1987 Catalina 30. We were wondering if anyone has crafted some kind of "bridge" between the dinette and the settee. We would like to increase our sleeping area and this seems like a possibility. With a board between these areas and a custom cushion our sleeping area would be substantially larger. Any ideas? Sleeping area

I havn't seen this done on the Catalina. But someone in "Good Old Boat" July/August 2001 issue had done this to a couple of Hunters. And he had alot of good ideas and how too's on building the frame to support the cushions. You can get a sample copy and request the July/August 2001 issue from them at goodoldboat.com. Be careful you may end up being a subcriber.

I did it on my 27

I did what you describe on my C-27. The only drawback was having to climb over the bed while going back an forth to the head. I just used two pieces of plywood sitting on cleats screwed to the front of the seats.
