hunter passage 420 long beach
I would like to move my hunter passage 420 from Los Angeles to San Francisco. I don't know whether I should call a trucking company or have a captain move her. The only concern I have is that I don't have an autopilot. I actually didn't want one, because on my last boat I found I used it too much and didn't enjoy the pleasure of being at the helm as much (nothing like being at the helm for 4 hours on the way to Catalina with a good blow). Any thoughts and/or contacts/companies you might suggest would be very helpful

I would think it would be far less expensive to hire a crew. I would think your friends would be more than willing to help out. It sounds like a great little cruise.

I wouldn't think twice about it. Sail my boat home, what could be better. Traveling from one coast to the other I could understand trucking it but just to sail down the coast, it's a no brainer. If you're not comfortable with your sailing skills hire a captain. A golden opportunity to learn.

I am surprised you don't have volunteers from the forum !! Some buddies of mine did that run back in October and had a hoot.. They went out and tried to stay in the lee of the channel islands as much as possible then went a good bit off shore toward better currents..
