fyi on laptop power with 12V

instead of using an inverter, use a "universal" laptop car/plane power supply. Radio shack sells them for $59, I have seen them at comp-usa for less. they have a unit that adjusts the 12 volts to whatever your laptop uses, ie, 14, 16, 18 volts, & has a universal end with adaptable plugs. Also, IBM sells a 12V/120V power unit, FRU Part # 22P9021, this will power your IBM laptop at proper 16 volts from both 12V DC and 120V AC. Both of these solutions are much more efficient than running an inverter with its inherent 20-50% power loss. My IBM T41 takes about 2 amps on the IBM adapter, it takes about 4-5 amps to power it using a standard wall adapter and an inverter. FYI, I am a computer tech.
