I am in need on a trailer to transport my Lancer 28' to Mobile Alabama from Clear Lake , Tx ( near Houston ). The boat is a 28' sail boat with a draft of 3', weight is 4900 lbs. I am more than happy to pay a rental fee. Please let me know if anyone can help. Glen glens@chilitech.com

if your handy, get a power boat used trailer

a used trailer that will haul your 5000lb,er can be found for less then $1500 in good shape and made to fit by you, look for a deep V power boat in-board-out-board of about 26ft, trailer and build up bunks fit,let keel sit on cross members center. that way you own it for any time you need to store on move it!

re-align the running gear too

Powerboat trailers balance a boat with a massive engine astern. If you put a keelboat on it, the weight is too far forward. Also, sailboats can be heavier than powerboats and the springs can be overloaded. If you do modify a powerboat trailer, think on these matters: 7 to 10% of your weight on the tongue, and springs still able to take uneven pavement.

Power boat T works fine

25' to 26' deep V Power boat twin axle trailers are 7000lb. and axles are in the right place allready, as 28' sail boat can and should hang off back so keel is centered over axles and that will bal. boat and trailer(keep about 300lb.+ wt.down on ball)All the bow stops ajusts that I've seen. The trick is building the bunks up a little higher so keel just sits on center of trailer frame above axles. Be sure it has brakes on at lest one axle. Sail boats do not need bunks running all the way to stren,as there are not big motors there like in power boats.
