I am looking at a Lancer 36 that seems in very good condition does anyone have opinions on these boats? I understand the hull is cored above and below the waterline. It has been my impression that below waterline coring is not a common practice these days. thanks for any input. Tom

I had a friend with one. It was built by a reputable builder, and you probably noticed good quality gear. A version of that boat with a Lee-designed rig (which was an option) won the Transpac. As to coring, I think you have to approach it as any boat of that vintage: a good survey. A cored hull is not an automatic problem below the water line. Actually, the problems are more often at the deck, especially in salt water. I do not remember any problems he had that were unique. He did replace the refrig. I recall it was a Norcold. Rick D.
