we are planning a trip to lake tahoe at the end of july, for several days, and we are trying to find a marina with launch facilities and secure parking, preferably towards the north end of the lake...

those of you who have experience on the lake and surrounding area, what suggestions can you give that would help us plan our trip.... and any "must see" attractions that arent listed in the tourista guides?

and what direction are the prevailing winds in the area during that time of the year?

Thanks

There is a public free launch in SoLahe Tahoe. Did it once with my Mac25 about 9 years ago. Not real convenient in that you can't step the mast until at the ramp due y o tunnel. Got there early so as not yo hold anyone up. Leaving and tearing down pissed a few people off. It is a floating aluminum finger dock. Evening wind waves made it pretty unstable. Marina was a much better experience. Plenty of room to set up and tear down. Very shallow ramp however requiring drov okng into warer on sand surface. Overall very doable woth PU truck. Not cheap however. There is another on the west shore in a campground.
