How do you deal with the mass of flies invading the boat around the islands..
No so much the mayfly hatch's or the mosquitoes, ( I have ways to deal with that) but the basic overly abundant house flies that move in and don't seem to want to leave...
Didn't have any at the dock or on the trip out, but after stopping at an island they moved in and stayed for the remainder of the trip...
Coils didn't work, candles had no effect and bug spray didn't keep them from crawling all over us..
Best we could come up with was some sticky fly strips we hung from the ceiling of the cabin...That provided "entertainment" while we watched them buzz around and eventually get "stuck"...("Ohh, Got one...oops, there's another...and another one) Eventually the strip went from yellow to a bumpy black mess in the course of an hour...but just as we seemed to be getting a handle on them...they called in for reinforcements...
Any oils or herbs or "concoctions" that might repel or minimize the invasion...??
Mostly they are just the nuisance variety, but from time to time we get the meat eating ankle biters too and those we just "nuke" spraying the cabin with "Yard Guard" and occasionally right on bare skin and clothing...(those buggers will bite right through your socks..) So any help on those would be appreciated...
