Planning a trip to Oak Harbor/Eden Isles canals this weekend...Is the Highway 11 drawbridge working reliably these days? I have a fear of getting to Oak Harbor and then getting stuck by a broken bridge. Do they monitor vhf 13 or better yet, where can I get the phone number for the bridge? thanks

I've traveled through a few times in the last 6 months. Each time no one was monotoring the radio(13 or 16) at the Highway 11 bridge. Often the railroad bridge operatior (50 feet away) would reply however, they can not open the HW 11 bridge. A phone call was required each time. I have their phone number written on my chart, however, I am out of state until Friday. If you need it before then call your harbor master or Northshore Marine. If you would like me to give it to you call me on my cell phone. Thanks Will 713-628-0522

It is an active shipping lane and manned 24 hours a day. Use your chart and stay in the channel from Slidel to the Gulf. They dredge the channel to about 50 feet however, It's only a few feet outside. There are three bridges. Slidel Rail Road Tressle, HW 90 Swing Bridge and Riggolese Rail Road Swing Bridge. I cant remember if the hail 11 or 14. Call Northshore Marine and ask for Gerald. He can tell the correct frequency and their phone numbers. Yes phone numbers. If you don't see other traffic going the other way, call them about an hour out. If you dont they may have gone to Wallmart. Where are you going?
