Lake Oroville, Calif.

Does anyone in this forum sail on Lake Oroville. I have been launching from Lime Saddle Marina, and motoring out to a broader part of the lake, but the wind predictions from the web have never been accurate. Is the large part of the lake in front of the dam a better place where the wind forecast is more accurate?

Boroville to Shasta

Methinks launching from Bidwell Marina owuld be better or 'Lake View' near I-5, but the wind is fickle in those parts.Shasta, and Whiskeytown are better, Lake Folsom gets pretty good wind too.What is wrong with Richardson's Bay? Good wind, flat sea, easy sailing too.With higher hills or mounts you get 'katabotic winds' that fall down the sides and spread, but just a lakes many inlets and diversity makes for varience in winds, a bay like S.F. San Pablo, or Monterey is better.Good sailing in Rio Vista too.
