Several weeks ago an invitation was posted to all Hunter owners to participate in a Hunter only regatta at Lake Norman in North Carolina. Has this died? Has anyone heard about registration or who to contact? I am very anxious to try my hand against some other Hunters. Keith Smoot H-23 Gwaihir

Keith, that charity regatta will be held at Lake Norman. However, I am trying to put an east coast Hunter trailerable rendeveouz together in conjunction with Hunter Marine. I will be firming up details but this is strictly a Hunter event Crazy Dave Condon

Lake Norman Regatta

Here ya go: Pursuit Of Sailing Regatta May 5th & 6th Lake Norman NC. This promises to be the best one yet. This is the 4th annual. We are expecting perhaps 80 boats to participate this year. Including the worlds finest Etchell sailors. The race is run with the handicaps being used at the beginning of the race. For two reasons. First we eliminate crowded starting lines by starting according to your boats rating. Each boat will get a designated starting time. The slowest boat by rating goes first the fastest last. The first one to cross the finish line wins. Starts could be staggered by as much as an hour or more depending on the boats and length of course for the day. The on the water judges will make that decision on the morning of each race depending on the wind conditions and the forecast each boat will have times for their start for each course. Outrigger Yacht Club will host the Friday, May 4th social gathering of skippers, food, and refreshments. The courses will be explained along with the starts etc. Saturdays race will start at 11:00 AM. There will be an after race party and banquet at Doyle Sailmakers loft that evening. Dinner tickets will be $10.00. Sundays race will again start at 11:00 AM and there will be an after race part and awards at the Peninsula Yacht Club following. The Cost for the 3 day event is $30.00. All proceeds go to benefit the Chuck Strange Foundation For Adaptive Sailing. I hope you and your friends will be able to attend. It's a great cause and the best sailing event every year. There will be a notice of race being posted at www.select-yachts.com and www.lnkc.com shortly and I can mail one to you as well. Butch Berchem www.select-yachts.com Doyle Sailmakers NC
