Are there any trailer sailers out there with experience and advice about sailing on Lake Nipigon in Ontario. It is a big lake surrounded by some very wild country. Now what. Anything will help. Rich

Lake Nipigon

I’ve never SAILED Lake Nipigon, but it is a wonderful Boating (power) and Fishing local, also noted for Canoeing & Kayaking. LAKE NIPIGON remains largely undeveloped, offering users only LIMITED ACCESS. - Lake Nipigon is the largest lake located entirely within Ontario's borders (the 38th largest lake in the world), with a total area of 448,000 hectares. - The total area of the Lake Nipigon Basin is about one million hectares - Lake Nipigon is also the largest tributary feeding the Great Lakes ACCESS: The Nipigon River Conservation Reserve can be easily accessed via Highway 585 (Cameron Falls Road). Currently there are a total of 12 access points on Crown, private and leased land along the Nipigon River. Highway 11 runs right through the Nipigon Palisades Conservation Reserve, providing easy access. Lake Nipigon is best accessed on the southeast side at the municipally operated Poplar Lodge Campground, or High Hill Harbour Marina; via private access points in Orient Bay; or at the South Bay public access point (off Pine Portage Rd.). Other access to Lake Nipigon includes the Poshkokagan River access, Chief Bay access, Kings Landing (Gull Bay), Pishidgi Lake via Wabinosh River, Humboldt Bay and Ombabika access and river access from the rail line down the Pikitigushi, Little Jackfish and Whitesand Rivers.
