The Great Lakes are more than you ordinary lakes. Here's a photo from a storm on Lake Ontario. The lighthouse is in Oswego NY.

I got stuck on Lake Michigan about 2 miles out on a 15' bass fishing boat in a fast moving storm about 6 or 7 years ago. I remember 10 foot waves gyrating from every direction... scarier than any deep sea storm I've been in. The great Lakes are horrible during storms and heavy winds.

Truly an inland sea. The only thing we don't have is salt water and fish that can eat you. (Yea).

I don't know Capt. With water as deep and vast as Lake Michigan, I wouldn't be surprised with some mutant man-eating fish or a bull shark that swam up some channel...
