Trailer to Tobermory. It is 5 hours drive from Detroit. Beautiful harbor and a good launch ramp. They offer parking across the street. I have left my van & trailer there for a week at a time with no problems. The Georgian Bay & North Channel are infinately better cruising than lake Huron proper. If you want to get even more creative, take the ferry across to Manitoulin Island from Tobermory. It is a huge boat capable of carrying semi trucks. You can then drive over to Little Current where there is a launch ramp. That cuts a day or more sail from Tobermory to the North Channel. The North Channel was listed in the top ten in the world by Cruising World.
