Any lake George sailors know a good place to stay on the lake for a weekend? The boat is a 260 so it shouldnt be an issue. I also dont have to have shore power but it might be nice, to use a battery charger for the radio and stuff. Thanks Brad

You need to be aware...

That Lake George is one of only two bodies of water in the whole US on which gray water (galley, bath and shower water) as well as toilet waste must be held. Since I wouldn't think you'd want to replumb your sink drains to go into your holding tank to spend just a weekend there, you may want to consider disconnecting your sink drain hoses and putting buckets under the sink(s) that you can empty ashore before you untie and go sailing. You're not likely to use your sinks while you're away from the dock, so unless you decide you want to anchor out for the night, that would be the simplest solution.

Lots of good places for boaters

I grew up in Schenectady, NY. We used to vacation on Lake George all the time. One spot you've got to check out is Paradise Cove. I don't recall if you can overnight there, but it's a great lunch spot! Also, check with the EnCon Dept. They have a whole slew of camp sites that are only accessible by boat along the East shore North of the "Narrows". These sites all have docks, as well as the usual amenities of a campsite so you can sail during the day and gather 'round the campfire at night. There are also sites located on the many islands, although this late in the season you won't find any firewood on them. It's been so long I don't remember the name of the island, but there's an island in the narrows with a "ranger station" that takes care of the paperwork for these sites. Lake George can be a great place to sail, but if you're new to the lake, beware of sudden weather changes. Those storms can pop up over the mountains before you know it. ENJOY!!!
