We've been busy trying to finish the hull on Lady J. The framing is finally completed and the bilges almost so. The boys have been working on the house today, stripping that hideous red stain as much as possible.

and

Still looks kinda orange to me...

The hull is detailed and ready for stain, mostly. I put some on to see if the customer likes it.

I didn't like any of the stock colors so what you see is a two step process. The base stain followed by a light wiping of a Mahogany Red stain.

and

I still have to hand make this rudder trim piece from that gorgeous chunk of Sapele.

Things are heating up quickly.

I'm impressed, I knew you and your team were supermen, but I didn't realize that your guys were so tough that they ate wood with a fork!

She's looking great, thanks for the updates.

Beautiful work, Charlie..I hope the owner moors her somewhere visible after you guys are done. Like other fine art, she should be admired!
I used to stay at the Bell Wether when there on business.. of course walking the docks and poking about on the waterfront was always on my schedule!

Excellent location -- right in my neighborhood. You'll have to let us know what marina when she sails down here. Can't wait to see the finished product, although I love looking at your photos of the progress. As far as stain, what about any need to compensate for the colors fading with sunlight? Will the clear coat or varnish you use on top of the stain have enough UV protection?
