I would like to know what folks use for a ladder for this type boat. Bought a rope ladder and it fun to watch kids try to get back on board, but not really practical, especially for physically challenged. Not much room in the stern to work with either. Thanks.

1 1/2 foot is ample below water. More is nicer. I am challenged and my 18 is not that low. My 25 is. I don't know where to get one but I saw a pic of one that fits over the side and it looked good as far as what I would settle for if it had to be on the side. gene

The Garelick 4 step EZ-In works just fine of the transom. You can find them at any marine store for under 40 bucks.
