Peggy, A couple of weeks ago I read a very nice article by you about eliminating mold/mildew in which you recommended the use of KO to be sprayed on the cushion covers (removed from the cushions) as well as a saturating spray on the foam cushions themselves. I have a couple of questions regarding this recommendation. First, can the KO be mixed with distilled water before spraying, and, if so, at what ratio? (50/50?) Also, what is the shelf life of the product if unopened? Finally, KO has a perfumey aroma to it that, although is preferrable to the mildew smell, I would prefer to not have. Does that aroma disappear after a short time? Thanks, Pat

Use K.O. full strength...

And be sure to use enough penetrate all the way into the middle of the cushion or the backing of a rug. Put 'em out in the sun for a day...and yes, the fragrance in K.O. will disappear by the time it dries or shortly after. As for K.O.'s shelf life...it's temperature sensitive. If it has been stored where temps have gone above 110F or below 40 F, it should have a shelf life of at least a year.

One more question?

What is the exact name of the KO product and who carries it?

It's exact name is K.O.

K.O. stands for "Kills Odor." It's a Raritan product http://www.raritaneng.com/products/cleaning_maintenance/index.html The online store here has it for a much better price than WM, B/US etc.

better price?

FYI I just looked at my store receipt as I bought a gallon of KO yesterday at B/US for $30. Unless that was a mistake, it is $20+ less than here. Don

That was a DEAL!!

It had to be priced wrong...'cuz WM/BUS' price for a gallon in their catalogs is $57 http://www.boatus-store.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=20002&langId=-1&catalogId=20002&productId=144720 ...Raritan's factory LIST price is $52.50. Their price for the $22 oz size is ridiculous--$17.99 vs. Raritan's list price of $12.20. So if B/US has any more gallons of K.O. for $30, grab 'em!
