My 2000 H310 has the factory knotmeter and depth instruments. Raymarine, but dont have the specific model numbers. My depth works perfect but the knot meter has never worked since i purchased the boat about 3 years ago. Basically, it registers 0 knots at all times. Occasionally, it go a little crazy and register an incorrect number such as 20 knots and then begin to drop slowly back down to 0. I have taken the transducer out, verified it is clean and the paddle wheel spins freely. The boat is in fresh water since I bougth it but it came from salt water.

Has anyone had the same issue and been able to get it work or it a lost cause?

not metering

sounds like either no signals getting to the unit from the transducer or the unit is bad. Take the transducer out and turn it on. Spin the paddle wheel by hand and note that the distance travled does in fact increase. It may take a few minutes of spinning the paddle meter to get a 0.1 of a NM to regester. you can also try getting a speed reading from it but the spin pretty fast even at 1 knot.
Also check all your connections to the unit proper.
Is it the last unit in the dasy-chain on the seatalk buss?

You may want to contact Raymarine directly. They may have a simple test with a electrical tester.

I understand that they customer service is better since Flir has taken over.

I've found Raymarine support to be very helpful. There are simple tests you can do to check the transducer, you really need to figure out what model you have. What does your display look like -- can you post a picture?

Guys, thanks for the suggestions, i have not had the time to go back out to the boat and do some of these test and post a picture.

I dont think it's the last unit on a daisy chain. All that I have is the knot meter and depth. And from what I could see, they seem to be seperate from each.

I had tried check the connections and clean them a bit. My next thought was to replace the connection on the display end to be certain. Hopefully, i will get out there this weekend and verify some of this.
