Fixed Meter
I finally fixed my knot meter which was easier than I thought. I was more fearful of the water coming in the boat.

When I pulled the sending unit out of the Hull, the water came gushing in. The Auto Bilge was able to pump out the amount of water coming in. I was able to stop the water with the palm of my hand very easily. I then put a rubber toilet flapper in the hole and stuck a screwdriver handle in it to keep it tight. In the mean time, I clean the wheel by popping out the shaft and removing all the growth around it and made sure it spun freely. I assemble the shaft back together and spun the wheel while checking the Knot Meter on mounted on the bulkhead, worked perfect! When installing back into the hole, I made sure of lining up in the same direction of the water flow of the boat. There is a hole on top of the plug that goes through horizontally, so when you wiggle the plug in, you know the direction of the wheel. Took the boat out yesterday, knot meter works perfect on my Catalina 27 '82. The only thing I might do is calibrate it with my GPS on my iPhone. There is an adjustment behind the knot meter. The nice thing is, I can just glance at the knot meter and see if my trimming of the sails improve the speed. One last thing, light sand and clean all the terminals to make sure good contact. I hope this helps others.
