Does anyone have a tip on keeping the paddlewheel on my knotmeter clean? Seems to get a little trash in it and prevents it from turning.

Only two ways that I know of. 1) keep the boat out of the water when not in use (Not practical). 2) Pull the paddle wheel from inside and insert the dummy plug. A little water comes in but is easly handled. Don't know where to get the dummy plugs if it didn't come with the know meter.

Unwanted Paddle Wheel Dwellers

There are always flora and fauna finding their way into the darndest places .... including the tiny space around the knot meter paddle wheel. If the little squatters wont move out of their own accord, I use a piece of line tied to a stantion on one side of the boat and then, while motoring out, I pull the line to the other side and let it drag under the hull and as it slips over the paddle wheel it evicts the unwanted critters by spinning the wheel. It sometimes takes 2 or 3 passes ... But I prefer it to sticking my head into the dark places where the tranducer lives, pulling it and then plugging the geiser before it floods the boat! Be sure that the line is NOT long enough to reach your prop when You drop the bitter end !!! Fair Winds ....

How about painting it with Antifouling paint?

Boat stores have little bottles of transducer antifouling paint available with little applicator brushes. Just apply a few coats and she'll stay clean alot longer.
