I'm in the market as were . Colonial Beach
It was a nice day and I decided to go out for a short sail. It was a bit windy but it was still fun. I saw 6.5 knots on the GPS a few times and rounded up twice.

On my way out of the harbor I saw a guy in a Catalina 22 tacking back and forth up the narrow channel with just his main up. He flagged me down and told me that his outboard went bonk. He said that he didn't have his tools aboard and he asked for a tow. Of course I gave him a tow.

If people behaved more like sailors then the world would be a better place. It is rare not to get help or give help when it is needed.

I have attempted to "rescue" kyackers ( turns out they were having a blast in the big waves and were just waiting around for bigger ones) and a boat with a MOB ( turns out it was a drill). So through no fault of my own I haven't been able to help anyone - but I keep my hopes up.

I have been waiting and watching for a go-fast powerboat to run out of gas and tow him back in under sail and motor. ;)

I have towed in a powerboat and then he got upset when it was to shallow for me to take him all the way In :)

Coming back to my marina...

last summer we saw a go-fast a ways off come down off plane in a cloud of smoke. As we got closer we deviated off course and started towards him. He kept watching us and got more animated as we got closer. He finally started up his good engine and began limping off ahead of us, looking back all the time. I returned to course and uped the throttle, which he did in return just to stay ahead of me.

Some people just refuse to be helped! LOL!

Ross I only wish some of the go fast boys would run out of fuel. I'm not holding my breath waiting for it to happen though. It's not the speed or the wake, it's the noise they produce. You can hear them coming and going for miles. Or is that minutes?
