Goiong to Oxford via Knapps Narrows this weekend. Is the channel well marked and with depths greater than 5 ft? Or is it better to go around Tilghman Island? Matias Happy Sailing
I went through the narrows last year and it was as you prescribed. Sometimes they change over the winter though. You may want to check the local notices to mariners online.
I, too, was thru the Narrows last year and it was not a problem (boat draws 4 ft). I don't think you'll have a problem this year, but I noted in the Notice to Mariners that some of the markers appear to have been damaged by Isabel last year. I'd give it try rather than going all the way around Tilgman Island.
Went through last weekend. We draw 5 feet. On the Choptank side there is a stretch near C-3 that is 5 feet on the south side of the channel. We found 8 feet by moving to the left. This is one time not to hug the mark. All marks were in place.
