Now that some of us Ches Bay sailors are (finally) getting back on the water, I thought I'd post this notice from the 27 March 07 "Local Notice to Mariners" fyi: "Southwind Construction DREDGE JENNI LEA will be conducting dredging operations in the Knapps Narrows from Knapps Narrows West Channel Light 1 (LLNR 25920) to Knapps Narrows East Channel Daybeacon 5 (LLNR 25924) and Tilghman Island Harbor from 02 April until 02 June, 2007. The dredge or the tug PROUD MARY may be contacted on VHF-FM CH. 13 and 16. Mariners are requested to review the DREDGING AND MARINE CONSTRUCTION CAUTIONS notice at the beginning of this section. Mariners are requested to stay clear of the dredge, floating and submerged pipelines, buoys and wires and exercise extreme caution and no wake when approaching, passing and leaving a dredge operation location and to strictly comply with the Inland Rules of the Road. Chart: 12270."

good to know

I love going thru the Knapp's Narrows but last year, ran aground and had to back off.... double checked the charts and the GPS... was in the right place but had to stuggle to find a "hole" to get thru. This will be nice sailing this summer. Good news.
