I am going to order some non-skid for the deck of my 30' Hunter Cherubini project boat. I don't care for the gritty abrasive type and looks like the Kiwigrip may be the ticket. For those who have used this product do you think a gallon can cover the deck area of the 30 foot Cherubini? (cabin top, foredeck, side decks and maybe the cockpit floor) . I was wanting to go with white. Any comments on this stuff?. Is the white a pain to keep clean?

One of the fellows in our marina did his H30 with less than a gallon. One of the nice things about Kiwigrip is the fact that you can touch it up.

I suggest that you practice on some bare wood to test the stipple effect. You want to be sure to NOT flatten it out. After all it is NON SKID.

I did mu 1983 H-30 a few years ago. Clean the deck with a good detergent cleaner. Scuff up the areas with a 80 or 100 grit orbital sander. ( not 100% necessary but it assures good adhesion) and wash again with detergent. Dry with clean towel. Tape off areas And apply you have about half hour to remove the tape. Less if its warm out. Pull tape off when the kiwigrip is tacky. Don't wait unit it's dry.

have fun. The results are dramatic.

I did our 1982, 27 ft. Cherubini with far less than a gallon of Kiwigrip with no problem. Wash down your areas and then tape them off, unless you have a lot of help work one area at a time. Trowel a moderate amount on to area you have taped off and spread it to an even level. Use the supplied texture roller to lay down the amount of grip that you want. I found moderate pressure supplied the grip that I wanted, too much pressure raise the surface to very sharp peaks that are good with shoes on but will be unable to be kneeled on or walk on with bare feet. As you see the edges of the Kiwigrip start to sag next to your tape, pull the tape off and then let the product cure. It works really well and as someone else pointed out it can be touched up.

Thank you for the info. I guess I will order a gallon of white. She has some nasty cream colored silica based stuff now. The white will look great I think.......but may show dirt more. I wonder how Kiwigrip holds up to a 1650 psi pressure washer.

While off-topic, I wonder the logic behind using a pressure washer. Seems it could do more harm than good and could easily blow hardware and port bedding out.

What can you not accomplish with Eco-safe detergent and a proper deck brush?

I've used the pressure washer m the kiwigrip without harm. But I do go a little easy on it.

If it is not too late, consider a color. I used gray and like it. The white may be a bit too reflective. Be sure to clean up any overspray AS YOU GO. Despite what vendor says, it does not clean up easily once dry.

They were backordered on the gallon white so didn't order yet. I may do the gray but was thinking about getting a quart of white to mix in with it for a lighter gray.

On myH-30nI used the standard light grey. Came out good. Was afraid that the white would be hard to keep clean.
