I am thinking about coating some of the non-skid areas around my cockpit on my '78 Catalina 30 with KiwiGrip Non-Skid. I am planning on perhaps the nonskid around the cockpit, the seating areas (that will be covered with cushions) and perhaps the non-skid on the sliding hatch. Has anyone used Kiwigrip and if so, how does it hold up and can you tell me anything about the application? I read an artcle in Sail last month about it and it looks rather nice and simple to apply.

Thanks - Rob

A little over a year ago I did a comparison of different nonskid coatings. The Kiwi-Grip is holding up as well as anything. Here is the link to my original findings. I am, in no way connected to Kiwi Grip. I was just trying to find out what was working and the easiest to apply. Here ya go http://www.sailnet.com/forums/gear-maintenance/34730-kiwigrip-photos-last.html Scroll down to my reply its about 7 posts down

Hope this info helps

Used Interdeck.

Interlux Interdeck is a really good option I think. I first did the anchor locker lid to see how it held up through a Lake Erie winter. I decided I liked the result and finished the decks with it. It is so "non-aggressive" that you might think it is not non-skid. But bare feet and deck shoes hold well, wet or dry. If someone found that it is not hiding flaws maybe they are thinning it. It will show major gouges I suppose. Here are a couple of long range pictures and the only closeup that I could find. The closeup is in a heavily trafficed area after three winters and includes the trip from Ohio to Florida. And I find that it does not collect dirt like some others that I have used. My mop and hose routine makes it shine.

I've used it with good results. It is wonderfully easy to apply, it doesn't smell horrid and clean-up is easy.
