We are considering a folding prop for our boat, and the Kiwi price looks attractive. Any comments on this brand? Currently have a 3 blade, 18x12 fixed, works well but spins while under sail.

Kiwi won't work for you

Check out the Kiwi site some more, they're only good for applications up to 55HP. Your post says you have a Hunter 44, correct? I'm guessing you have more than 55HP? FWIW, I HAVE heard a lot of good things about them. Tim

Love mine

Put one on my Pearson 34 w/a Yanmar 3GMF 21 hp. last spring. I know nothing about hp limitations but works great for mine. Switched from a 2 blade. Much better reverse, forward seems better too. Less drag sailing is hard to measure but, yes it certainly seems so. Good folks to deal with. I purchased after reading a circumnavigator rave about his in Cruising World or some such mag.

Kiwi Props

Thanks for the response to my request. Our engine is a Yanmar 4JH4E, rated at 50 HP, per the owners manual. Kiwi says the prop will work fine with this engine. Also, Kiwi says the price will increase slightly to allow for the exchange rate between US and NZ dollars. Gordon

Love it

Putting the Kiwi on my Hunter 38 was the best improvement I've done. Thrust is great but backing up is what's amazing - no prop walk and immediate response. Also, when I bought, I opted for regular deliver rather than special. The unit arrived inside of 6 days.

kiwi prop

I have had a Kiwi prop on my l985 Hunter 31 for 3 years. I have repowered with a Yanmar 3YM30. The prop has been excellent. Great thrust, ability to stop in an emergency is amazing and easy maintenance. Worth every penny and easily adjustable.

H356

We've had one for 3 seasons on our H356, replacing the standard 3-blade fixed. I really like it. Motoring's good and sailing much improved, especially in light air. Without the drag from the prop, the boat sails like it's supposed to, slipping thorugh the water with no fuss. EAsy to install.
