Has anyone replaced their exterior teak with plastic?
Do you thru bolt the railroad trim and hatchway trim?

Pictures?

Thanks.

The only exterior wood that will be on my boat will be the trim on the sliding companionway hatch and possibly the handrails if I can find a suitable place to mount them. Since I'm running all lines aft to the cockpit, there wasn't room for handrails beside the pop top. May end up being mounting them on the pop top itself. As far as the rails go, yes I'm using the plastic ones from CD. I through bolted them, using a drill press with a fence to make uniform, proper angled holes. As is the case with with most everything else I do, I used too many fasteners, but oh well!

On the tracks for the hatch boards, I didn't through bolt them, but only used screws from the back side, which were covered by the wood trim just inside. Sorry I don't have a pic showing the top. Will try to get a better shot next time I go to the boat.

Thanks. The companionway trim gets used as a handhold so I wasn't sure how I was going to attach them. I tend to over engineer everything anyway. BTW that is a beautiful shine you have on you cockpit fiberglass!

Thanks
