But I was hoping some of you guys around the Portland, Brunswick area of Maine could help me out. I want to send a Restaurant gift certificate to a good friend that has a summer cottage on Casco bay My problem is Im not familiar with any good restaurants in the area.
Any suggestions would be appreciated

Hi bffatcat,
Portland and the Old Port are loaded with great restaurants, but if you're looking for out of the way there's Royal River in Yarmouth, Dolphin Marina in South Harpswell, Inn on Peaks Island, Diamond's Edge on Great Diamond Island, Seagrille in Falmouth, and Cook's Lobster House on Bailey's Island. These are a few of the one's we've been to.

Norms in Portland has the best lobstah bisque you'll ever taste, remember to get the grilled flatbread too. It's about 2 blocks from Damillos and the docks.

I'd second the Dolphin Marina. Best blueberry muffins in Maine, good food and a great view, with friendly people. Otherwise, Portland has a good bunch of fine dineries, but they will be more expensive. If your friend doesn't have a boat, he'll want a place with ferry access. If he does have a boat, he'll be able to go anywhere.

I have to agree about their bb muffins. They have a fine view to watch while nibbling also. I would dread having to use their ramp though.

Sorry, Norms BBQ is no more. They still have a bistro up the hill on Congress but I do not think they still serve the Lobster stew.
