I guess I’m “fortunate” as I donkt drink it. Never acquired a taste for it. If I want a hot drink after a cold rainy sail, it’s a cup of fine chocolate with a shot of Di Saronno...

I picked up one of those in the Med on my circumnavigation and I thought it was the best coffee maker I'd ever used. It's like a coffee pressure cooker. I believe the original was Italian, but everybody makes one now. Europeans use it to make espresso, but I just brewed a couple of really strong cups of American style coffee out of whatever beans I could find. Sometimes I got lucky and got great beans, sometimes I was lucky to find coffee at all, but that's half the fun of traveling, isn't it?
Since we have electric cooking, there's no point in a stovetop coffee maker, so we use a drip machine. Our customers seem to really enjoy the coffee Nikki makes them, so until we change to gas cooking, we'll continue on with what we've got.

The only problem I decided to go against using the Keurig in morning is the power draw
and not wanting to run Gen early morning in Anchorage.

I love my single my single serve Keurig and use it all the time while I’m connected to shore power. It’s fantastic when I wake up and in short order have a mug of coffee. For some odd reason when on I’m on the hook I still like using my alcohol stove and the percolator.

We use a Keurig on the boat. If I were to get another one, it would be the kind you pour the water in the top from the cup you are using, so you get the size you want. Keurig cup sizes are ridiculously small. Plus, you don’t have to keep filling up a reservoir. I agree with Capta about the environmental issue, which is why I hate single serve water bottles, too.

Nonetheless, we did find a great source for the pods. We pay WAY to much for them in the stores down here, but we found that Intelligent Blends online has great prices ($0.34 each), and free shipping here.

Hi Nick, no Keurig here. Never much cared for them. We've been using a French press for years both on the boat and at home. We keep fresh beans on the boat and grind our own each morning. The only electricity we need is enough to grind the beans. The press makes a superb cup of joe.

I like my coffee in the morning and so less cleaning and less water used is better for us and we
do anchor out most of the time and think our system is run the Gen before bed time turn on the drip coffe make put coffe in craft and heat up nice and hot on stove.
But I think we will try the Kueurg at home only to drink less not the whole 10cups so says my wife but not true I don’t drink all 10 maybe 5 in morning and 1 or 2 in afternoon.
But hey keep enjoying your cup of joe any way you like it.
Thank’s All and heading back home in about a week and back to sailing.
