I'm looking for a source for an inexpensive kerosene lamp to mount to the bulkhead on my Oday 27. Any leads out there?

Try Used...

..the least expensive run about $70 in discount marine supply stores. Just a thought: look for some surplus/used marine supply places in your area and try there first. might find one for half. BTW, from years of experience, I'd stay with name quality. There can be a big difference in durability and brass quality. RD

Skip kerosene

I'd also skip kerosene and use a smokeless lamp oil. One name is Ultra-Pure. There is no smoke/soot, no smell and no mess. It's much more comfortable to use. Give it a try.

Smokeles

A drop or two of alcohol mixed with kerosene will make it smokeless. Got this from one of the Pardey's books and confirmed it with my Mom who grew up with kerosene lamps... Ron

Oil lamps

Dietz lamps has supplied a variety of oil lamps for many years and are much less than "Marine" types even though some are available in brass. I own one and it works well at home or the boat. You can do a search for Dietz or find then at http://www.lehmans.com/ , a hardware store in Amish country. I didn't see a bulkhead model, but they may have one in another of their lines.

Weems & Plath make a nice lantern that burns parafin, and a gimbal sold seperatly. Not a bright light, about like a candle.
