My H25 has one of these Kenyon stoves in it. Until I replace it with a non pressurized type I'd like to use this one when I'm not cooking on the beach. Or when the entire Upper Chesapeake Bay area has been rained on for several days straight.

The pump has a LOT of resistance and it's very difficult to pump more than 3 times or so. Will this go away once I fill the tank? Am I supposed to lubricate the pump with anything? I found a manual online but it made no mention of pump maintainence.

Probably the replaceable check valve under the pump plunger tube. After working perfectly for years, the check valve on my Kenyon failed with the stove lit, shooting a stream of pressurized alcohol up the pump shaft about a foot above the stove and it ignited. Pot of water did not put it out and it burned through a water soaked bath towel I threw on it. Finally got it out with a fire extinguisher. Not a fun thing to happen at anchor. Fire melted the mini-blinds and overhead liner before I could get it out.I threw the damn thing overboard and bought an Origo double burner non-pressurized alcohol stove and we love it. Be careful with that Kenyon.

If your looking for an "interim" stove until you get the non-pressurized, single butane stoves work great and can be had for about $20.
Only fire I ever had on a boat in 30 years was a pressurized alcohol stove. I was at the dock so mine went into the dumpster. Would have been more gratifying to toss overboard!

The lady and I are going out for the weekend and if luck is with me we'll have fresh caught catfish to eat. The dinghy I usually borrow to get camping gear and such onto the beach is in use this weekend so I'll have to cook on the boat. I'll grab my uncle's little propane powered hibachi and cook in the cockpit I guess. Was hoping to be able to cook inside in case of rain so maybe I'll look into the single burner butane. I just need something my iron frying pan will fit on for cooking fish filets and breakfast foods. Thanks.
