I'll be dragging my Oday 20 up to Kentucky Lake this fall for a few days of messing about and would welcome any advice or suggestions regarding the Lake, launch sites, transient slips, accommodations, restaurants, etc. If you've been there, I'd like to hear what you have to say. Thanks and good sailing.

Kentucky Lake Sailor

I have been sailing Kentucky Lake for 30 years and would offer the following advice. Lighthouse Landing in Grand Rivers is the largest sailboat marina on the lake and offers transient slips. There is Patti's restruant within walking distance as well as Mr. BBQ's, Iron Kettle, and the Light Side. There is a grocery store as well in Grand Rivers. There are many great bays to anchor overnight such as Duncan Bay and Sugar Bay to name but a few.

Sailed

Sailed there twice. Nice accommidations at Green Turtle Bay Resort on the Lake Barkley side and Lighthouse Landing on the Kentucky Lake side. There are a couple of State Parks near the dam and around the lake. Grand Rivers is the town in between. Miss Patty's is the place to eat. Very nice and good food, reasonable prices. In a dry county so you may want to take a bottle of wine with you. Lake is wide and long, lots of room to sail. Was good both sails. Water can get alittle shallow in spots. Some traffic in the shipping channel, but not bad. Have a good time. Jeff

Kentucky Lake

I have been sailing Kentucky Lake for the past 8 years. I have a 343 that I keep at Lighthouse landing in Grand Rivers Ky. It is the north end of Kentucky Lake. Tim and Marty run the marina, LightHouse Landing. It is great! They have a boat launch ramp and and plenty of parking. They rent condos for the week or weekend. Shower facilities are clean and for sailors at Lighthouse Landing. They may have a slip you could use for a couple of days. Check it out on lighthouselanding.com. The town is wonderful and an easy walk..one block. Patty's Resturant has been there since the late 1800's and has the best pork chops you can imagine. Make a reservation for a weekend or forget it. The north end of the lake is deep...60 feet in places or as shallow at 6 along the west side and about for about 25 miles great coves and inlets on the sides to duck into for the night. If you get a wind out of the west you are in heaven and can sail all day without a tack.

Ditto on Ms Patty's

I've never had the pleasure of boating in or out of Lighthouse Landing, but on car trips we love to stop and gawk at the marina and eat at Ms Patty's. I love the bread they cook in flower pots and I don't think there is anything on the menu that is not good. If you are not that far north, the state park restaurant at Paris Landing is used to be good too.
