I’ll be keeping a large paper clip aboard from now on. I just replaced both halyards on my 23.5 using the paper clip suggestion I found here. It worked GREAT! I whipped the joint with small nylon. When I did the jib halyard, it came out before I expected. There was NO resistance at all. Thanks for the great information. Bob

If you live in a saltwater environment you may have rusty paper clips before you decide to use them. I also found the same thing as Bob when I did this the first time. If you sew the lines together you can sometimes feel some resistance. With the paperclip method there was no resistance at all. Just a wrap over the clip with a little rigging tape.
