The handheld gps is mounted on the steering pedestal in a good position. The problem is keeping a good connection to the 12v battery power. The connection is made by two small metal strips which touch the back of the gps, a magellan meridian. Has anyone found a method of keeping a good connection? The gps is taken off the pedestal and stored in the cabin when not in use.

I have the same unit. Found that you need to use diletric grease on the contacts. It has worked for me all last year without a problem. Can be purchased in any good auto parts store.
