Last time I docked a week ago I pulled up the keel and tied it off. Yesterday we went sailing and when I released the keel it wouldn't drop. Is there anyway to get to it without putting on my mask and fins?!?
My O' 23 has been in the Hudson River and in Jersey City for 3 years now, often sea life will jam my centerboard into the "sheath" when pulled up. I simply tie off a littte slack for the centerboard and let the "motion of the ocean" do the work. Hopefully your little "livaboards" are not so large that they are really jammed in too tight....
This seems to be a common problems with the O'Day centerboard models (it's actually the centerboard that's stuck, not the keel)To free mine, I ran a cheap machete all around the CB, then pried it with a nail bar.
