Keel stepped mast fittings

There is a fitting at the deck (cabin ceiling) which allows a 1/2" bolt to be passed through the mast. The fitting is also attached to the deck-side mast boot by four through-bolts. When I lay the boat up each winter I loosen the standing rigging and pull the bolt so as to not stress the cabin top deck when the boat settles on the keel in it's cradle. Is this necessary ( to remove the bolt)? And is it a good idea to loosen the rig in any case during winter lay-up. My instincts tell me "yes" but some confirmation would be appreciated.

I have a oday 28 1985 We up here in the MAINE coast we have to take the mast down. you mentioned of just loosening your rigging with the tension downward I do not think it would free enough to remove the pin. The purpose of the pin through the mast to the mast collar is to minimize the flex on the deck I think if you get out getting it back might be a problem Thats my thought .
