Anyone dealt with keel smile 1975 catalina 27 and bolts in bilge rusted and breaks in bilge can see wood ?
No texting! I hate texting! It would help others to help you if you would write in more well-formed, complete sentences, and to be more verbose regarding the problem you have, and the advice you seek? I assume you're not paying by the character or word foe your internet service!
No, it is true that repair by sistering lag bolts will never be as strong as the original J-bolts cast into the keel. Thus no one could recommend crossing the Pacific with such a repair but weekends to Catalina are okay.Is it true it will never be up to sailing when you refit the keel bolts ?
I don't want to get too far into thread drift here, but I didn't say I hate "text", I said I hate "texting". You know, where some folks type at lightening speed with their thumbs on their smart phones, and leave out punctuation and capital letters, and don't have any sentence structure. I was attempting to make a joke about the post that criticized your sentence structure, which does make it difficult to understand your meaning.I am so sorry my typing and auto correct has bothered you. I didn't ask for English class dear; sometimes in typing we hit wrong keys. Mistakes that I even can still get what one is saying. And if you hate text, the forum is all text my apologizes. But you used text just to say that dumb text?
So am I wasting my time on her? She was given to me, my first boat so excited. Nice project boat, which I love to do. But she does have hole in bilge where I believe someone was trying to figure out if wet wood. Then I have had her pulled out and put on the hard. My intentions are to refit, rerigging mass and sails being done. I am planning on living on her by next year and launch her. I wanted to sail, since I am beginner taking classes. I have gutted all inside treating teak and refitting her plumbing and wiring. Or should I sell her and not waste my time? Be honest if advanced sailor. Please be honest. I begun already. No, it is true that repair by sistering lag bolts will never be as strong as the original J-bolts cast into the keel. Thus no one could recommend crossing the Pacific with such a repair but weekends to Catalina are okay.
