keel problem

I recently bought a C-22, but the keel was off of it due to the pin wearing through the hole in the keel. Can anyone tell me where I can find a templet of the keel so that when the welder repairs it, he will know exactly where to place the hole for the pin?

hello Sharon, CATALINA DIRECT sells new keel bushings for about $ 8.95,it is 1.250 diameter stainless steel. The old pin is drilled out the bushing is pressed in and the new pin( about $7.70 ) is pressed into the hole.the phone number is 1-800-959-7245john

try your welder

A good, experienced welder may solve your problem by simply looking at the keel. Have the new pin in hand when you ask someone to look at the keel. You may need to try more than one welder. Good luck.

Keel wear and gravity

The Keel will only wear in one direction. Gravity makes sure of that. The proper position for the pin will be at the beginning of the worn canal. Right up against the metal.
