I'm undertaking an open ocean sail and was told it is best to lock down the keel. How do I engage the lock down and where is it located? Thanks! Lance

Know Your Boat. . . .

You might want to gain more familiarity of your boat before you head out to open waters. The keel lock down bolt is locked in the compartment under the forward seat on the dinette. It is a bolt that tightens against the keel in order to lock it down. If it has not been used in a while, then it may need a little maintenance to make it operational. Keep in mind that the keel lock down bolt is only a deterent to keel retraction during a capsize.

Keel Lock Down -- Thanks!

Thanks for the info! I've had the boat for about 6 Months and have been out nearly every week. Other than the keel lock down, I've gone over nearly everything possible. Any other suggestions?
