Keel hoisting line Oday192 (1986) replacement

Not currently having a problem but would like to replace the keel hoisting line before the season starts.
Read somewhere that line used to contain metal but no longer necessary?
Line should be 5/16" diameter?
Does the hull have to be hoisted to access the keel line?

Then Centerboard sits inside the stub keel housing. Yes you need to lift the boat. Rudy at D&R Marine has the correct line to affix to the CB.

Rschuss is correct. I’ve done the replacement on my O’Day 19 and 222. I dropped the centerboard as well. This made the job easier. I wanted to refinish the centerboard and stiffen it some as well.
